About This Programme

This BEd prepares teachers for Grades R to 3, with a strong emphasis on IsiZulu home-language instruction in the Foundation Phase and early literacy and numeracy development.

Admission Requirements

Required Subjects

  • IsiZulu Home Language 4 50–59%
  • English First Additional Language 4 50–59%
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy 3 40–49%

Additional Requirements

  • Preference is given to applicants who ranked this programme first.
NSC Degree pass with IsiZulu HL 4 and English FAL 4 and Mathematics 3/Mathematical Literacy 4. Matric Exemption: IsiZulu 1st language 'D' HG/'C' SG and English 2nd language 'D' HG/'C' SG.
