About This Programme

The BEd Foundation Phase prepares teachers to work with learners in Grades R to 3, developing specialist skills in early childhood pedagogy, literacy, and numeracy.

Admission Requirements

Required Subjects

  • English Home Language or First Additional Language 4 50–59%
  • Any other official South African language (HL or FAL) 4 50–59%
  • Life Orientation 4 50–59%
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy 3 40–49%

Additional Requirements

  • No applications considered after the 30 September closing date
NSC Degree pass with English HL/FAL 4 and any other official SA language HL/FAL 4 and LO 4 and Mathematics 3/Mathematical Literacy 4. Matric Exemption: 32. Preference to applicants who ranked this programme first.
