About This Programme

A Bachelor of Education degree preparing educators focusing on high school teaching (Grade 8-12) with a specialisation in Language Education: Afrikaans.

Admission Requirements
Minimum APS score of 28 (excluding Life Orientation)

  • English Home Language 5 60–69%
  • English Additional Language 6 70–79%
One of the following
  • Afrikaans Home Language 4 50–59%
  • Afrikaans Additional Language 5 60–69%

Additional Requirements

  • IsiZulu not applicable
  • Sepedi not applicable
  • A valid National Senior Certificate (NSC) with admission for degree purposes
  • A Bachelor's degree endorsement does not guarantee admission to the BEd
  • Preliminary admission is based on final Grade 11 results
  • Final admission is based on final Grade 12 results

Life Orientation is excluded from the APS / score calculation.

Minimum APS of 28, excluding Life Orientation. English Home Language 5 (60%+) OR Additional Language 6 (70%+). Afrikaans Home Language 4 (50%+) OR Additional Language 5 (60%+). NCV applicants: minimum NCV Level 4 with three fundamental subjects 60-69% including English, and three vocational subjects 70-79%. NASCA/SC(a) applicants follow Senate Discretionary Approval process.
