About This Programme

A six-year degree leading to qualification as a medical doctor. Approximately 280 candidates selected annually. Requires a two-year internship and community service year before registration as an independent medical practitioner.

  • Mathematics 4 50–59%
  • Physical Sciences 3 40–49%
  • Life Sciences 3 40–49%

Additional Requirements

  • NSC aggregate of at least 75% excluding Life Orientation
  • Mathematics 60%
  • Physical Sciences 50%
  • Life Sciences 50%
  • Non-academic merits considered in selection process
Approximately 280 places. Highly competitive selection. Academic and non-academic merits are both considered. Registered SU students may also apply. HPCSA registration after internship and community service.
