About This Programme

Offered by the Faculty of Engineering. Electrical engineers are responsible for the generation, transmission and conversion of electrical energy; electronic engineers focus on robotic systems, information processing by computer and communication networks, and design of computers and large software systems.

Admission Requirements
Minimum aggregate of 70% for the NSC (excluding Life Orientation)

Required Subjects percentage

  • Mathematics 70%
  • Physical Sciences 60%
One of the following
  • English Home Language 50%
  • English First Additional Language 60%

Additional Requirements

  • Applicants are also subject to selection according to selection criteria
  • Selection mark = Mathematics percentage + Physical Sciences percentage + (6 x Matric average)
NSC aggregate of at least 70% excluding Life Orientation. A selection mark of 600 or more gave students a good chance of admission in recent years; for some programmes 620 or more was required.
