About This Programme

The Bachelor of Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy programme is offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and is accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Approximately 30 candidates are selected annually.

Admission Requirements
Minimum aggregate of 60% for the NSC (excluding Life Orientation)

Required Subjects percentage

  • Mathematics 50%
One of the following
  • Physical Sciences 50%
  • Life Sciences 60%
  • English 60%
One of the following
  • Afrikaans 60%
  • Third South African Language 60%

Additional Requirements

  • At least TWO of the following THREE languages at 60%: English AND/OR Afrikaans AND/OR a third South African language (Home Language or First Additional Language)
Approximately 30 candidates selected annually. Physical Sciences 50% OR Life Sciences 60% accepted. Language requirement: at least TWO of the THREE listed languages at 60%: English AND/OR Afrikaans AND/OR a third South African language.
