About This Programme

Offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. A general arts degree with music, preparing students for careers as private music teachers and performing artists.

Admission Requirements
Minimum aggregate of 60% for the NSC (excluding Life Orientation)

Required Subjects percentage

  • Home Language 50%
  • First Additional Language 40%
  • Mathematics 70%

Additional Requirements

  • In the main instrument (or in singing) at least a practical standard in classical music equivalent to the Grade VII examination and theoretical knowledge equivalent to any of the examining bodies' Grade V theory examination
  • Candidates must be available for an audition and theoretical test at the Department of Music in Stellenbosch — proof of required standards must be demonstrated. Further information at auditions@sun.ac.za
  • Mathematics 70% only required if Mathematics is taken as a university subject
