About This Programme

A four-year BEng in Chemical Engineering covering the research, design, development, and management of industrial processes that convert raw materials into valuable products. Chemical engineering is one of the top 10 scarce skills in South Africa.

Admission Requirements

Required Subjects

  • Mathematics 6 70–79%
  • Physical Sciences 6 70–79%
  • Afrikaans or English 5 60–69%

Additional Requirements

  • Final Grade 12 Mathematics mark of 70% or higher
  • Final Grade 12 Physical Sciences mark of 70% or higher
  • 60% or higher in language of instruction (HL or FAL)
Potchefstroom Campus only. Students with 40%+ in both Maths and Physical Sciences and 60%+ in language may apply for the 1-year Xcel bridging programme.
