About This Programme

This degree prepares students for professional registration as medical laboratory scientists, covering haematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and histopathology.

Admission Requirements
Minimum APS score of 30

Required Subjects

  • English 4 50–59%
  • Mathematics / Technical Mathematics 4 50–59%
  • Life Sciences 4 50–59%
  • Physical Science / Technical Science 4 50–59%

Additional Requirements

  • Senior Cert: English D HG, Maths D HG, Biology and Phys Sci D HG
  • Applicants are required to undergo an interview as well as placement testing
  • Recommended additional subjects: Geography 4 / Agricultural Science 4
Even though a candidate may satisfy minimum admission requirements, acceptance is not automatic as further selection criteria are applied. Applicants from FET colleges must have minimum NQF 4 in Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Science and English. Closing date: 30 September.
