About This Programme

This degree prepares medical laboratory scientists for professional registration, covering haematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, blood transfusion, and histopathology.

Admission Requirements

Required Subjects

  • English 4 50–59%
  • Mathematics 4 50–59%
  • Life Sciences 4 50–59%
  • Physical Science 4 50–59%
  • Two 20-credit subjects (not more than one language) 3 40–49%

Additional Requirements

  • Matric Exemption: English D HG/B SG and Biology and Phys Sci and Maths D HG/B SG
  • NC(V) Level 4 with 70% in English, Maths, Phys Sci, Life Sci/Biol and four other subjects
  • Mathematical Literacy and Technical Mathematics will NOT be accepted as substitutes for Mathematics
First preference is given to applicants who have never studied previously at any other university. Matric results and ranking the programme as 1st or 2nd choice used for ranking. Technical Science will NOT be accepted as a substitute for Physical Science. Closing date: 30 September.
