Vaal University of Technology (VUT) is a public university located in the Gauteng province. VUT has a range of accommodation options to cater to the diverse needs of its students, including those from outside the Vaal region. The university has several residences and off-campus housing options, making it convenient for students to find a place to stay during their studies.

Vaal University of Technology accepts the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). NSFAS is a South African government program designed to provide financial assistance to students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and need help covering the costs of their tertiary education. Students who wish to apply for NSFAS funding to attend VUT must meet the eligibility criteria set by NSFAS.

Which documents are needed at VUT?

• certified copy of your identity document
• Certified copy of your Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate and all other relevant documents.
• Certified Grade 11 report (If currently in grade 12)

Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Application Fee:

You need to pay an application fee of R110 to be considered for admission at Vaal University of Technology. VUT will not accept your application if you have not paid an application fee. Application fee should be deposited into the VUT Bank Account at ABSA. Use your student number as reference.

How to Apply Online at VUT for 2025

To get started with your online application process at Vaal University of Technology (VUT) for 2025 you need to visit the Vaal University of Technology website at www.vut.ac.za 

Step 1:  accept the application rules and click "continue"

Step 2: Capture your biographical information and click "next" to proceed with your application;

Step 3: Capture results details then add subjects and click "next";

Step 4: Capture educational institution detail and click "next";

Step 5: Capture academic application details (choose 2 choices/programmes you wish to apply for), click on "add qualification" and thereafter click "next";

Step 6: Verify/Check your application details then click "continue";

Step 7: Create your 5 digit PIN (e.g 24689), click "I accept"(twice) checkbox thereafter click "Submit Application";

Step 8: Upload your documents, select "yes" on the dropdown list if all your documents are ready to be uploaded and then click "next";

Step 9: Click "Load/View Document" >> "Upload document" >> "Choose/Browse file" go to the folder where your documents are stored, choose the relevant document and click "save";

Step 10: Once all documents have been uploaded click "complete upload";

Step 11: Confirmation Page, end of application

What is the closing date for VUT application?

The closing date for VUT applications for undergraduate courses is 30 September each year. Applications submitted after 30 September will not be accepted. After the closing date constantly check out the VUT website for application extensions or late applications.
