About the Vulamathuba Empumelelo Bursary

The Vulamathuba Empumelelo Bursary Fund provides a ray of hope, for worthy South African students looking for financial aid to meet their ambitions of pursuing higher education, the fund, which was founded with the goal of “transforming lives through education,” offers far more than just financial aid; it gives young people and their communities a road to a better future. The fund’s objective is to provide financial assistance to residents of Communicare and surrounding communities in the City of Cape Town Metro who possess academic talent but are economically disadvantaged and wish to pursue a credential known as a scarce skill.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification within the CRITICAL SKILLS field.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE VULAMATHUBA EMPUMELELO BURSARY

To qualify for the Vulamathuba Empumelelo Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

• Must have applied/accepted to study at any accredited South African higher education institution (including TVET colleges)
• Must have primary residence with the Cape Metro region
• Must come from a previously disadvantaged background 
• Must come from a household with a combined gross income not exceeding R350 000
• Must have been in Matric in 2023 or completed Matric
• Must be studying or intending to study a SCARCE SKILL full time or part time qualification 
• Must be between the ages of 19 and 50
• Must be willing and able to participate in a community outreach program
• Priority is given to individuals accepted to study at public institutions in the Western Cape

THE VULAMATHUBA EMPUMELELO BURSARY COVERS:

• Registration Costs
• Tuition Fees
• Prescribed textbooks ( including; study materials required for  the course)
• Examination fees (if required)

VULAMATHUBA EMPUMELELO BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

Applications must be submitted with the following required documents:

• Certified South African ID or Passport.
• If applicant is a Non- South African citizen; Certified Permanent Residency Permit or Work Visa details.
• Certified South African ID/passport/birth certificate of ALL members of applicants household (spouse, parents, guardians etc.) 
• Certified copy of Marriage Certificate; if applicable.
• Certified THREE months bank statement of ALL members of applicants household (Spouse, parents,  guardians etc.)
• Certified copy Death Certificate; if applicants parents are deceased.
• Certified copy Proof of residence
• Certified Proof of income of ALL household income(Spouse, parents,  guardians etc.) ; Affidavit if unemployed or latest pay slips 
• Certified Latest academic results
• Certified Proof of application/registration at an accredited tertiary institution 
• Certified copy of Divorce order, Administration Order, Court Order , Maintenance Order; if applicable. 
• Motivational essay of at least 250 words.

Note: Certified copies must not be older than SIX months
