The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) is inviting applicants form the South African security industry to apply for their 2025 Bursary programme. Applicants have until the 31st of January 2025 to submit their emailed applications to be considered for this funding opportunity.

About Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority Bursary:
The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) Bursary programme aims to provide financial assistance to employed security officers and their legal children, enabling them to access tertiary education in any field of study. The bursary programme contributes to the overall well-being and stability of families within the security industry.
This initiative aligns with PSiRA’s broader commitment to enhancing the professional development of security officers, not only through job-related training but also by offering opportunities for personal growth and education. FIELDS COVERED
The PSiRA bursary programme is open to students who want to pursue OR are pursuing an undergraduate qualification in ANY field of study. Postgraduate studies are not covered
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY BURSARY
To qualify for the PSiRA Bursary you must meet the following requirements:
The bursary is STRICTLY for PSiRA security officers and their dependants:
- The parent/ legal guardian and student must be a South African Citizen
- The learner must be between 19 and 35 years old.
- You must be employed within the private security sector OR have a legal parent who is registered with PSiRA as a security officer
- Student must have completed matric.
- Student must be enrolled with an accredited higher learning institution (TVET or University)
- You must intend on studying full-time towards a certificate or undergraduate diploma or degree
- Applications are open to candidates from all provinces within South Africa
PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY BURSARY COVERS:
- Tuition fees
NOTE: Maximum cover for TVET students is R25 000 per year/per learner (pursuing a certificate course)
Maximum cover for undergraduate degree/diploma is R45 000 per year/per learner (TVET/University)
PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- A fully completed application form
- Certified ID Document of student
- Certified ID document of PSiRA registered parent/legal guardian
- Certified copy of Matric certificate
- Proof of registration/acceptance at a TVET college or university
- Parent or legal guardians latest payslip
- Parent or legal guardians proof of PSiRA registration

- Complete the bursary application form and attach supporting documents
- Scan the completed form and the documents into one pdf file
- Email the form to the following email address: [email protected]
NOTE: The application must be submitted by the student not the parent. The legal parent/guardian PSiRA registration number must be included in the email.
Certified documents should not be older than three months
CLOSING DATE:

PLEASE NOTE: Previously funded students should apply again for the 2025 academic year and submit their academic results and a statement reflecting the outstanding amount for the new year.
