as of 13 January 2025, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened late applications for 2025.   • You must be studying or or accepted to study at any TVET College in South Africa in 2025
  • You must be studying or intend to study one of the NCV, Trimester or Semester courses
  • Your total household income threshold should not be more than R350 000 OR R600 000 (if living with disability)
  • Continuing students must demonstrate satisfactory academic performance to maintain funding eligibility.

How to Apply for NSFAS 2025 Late Applications

NSFAS has announced that students can either apply online on their website or visit the TVET college they plan to enrol with to apply. 

Here is a step by step guide on how to apply online for NSFAS 2025:

  1. Visit the official NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Click on the “MyNSFAS” tab to create an account.
  3. Provide your personal details, including your ID number, email address, and phone number.
  4. Once your account is created, log in using your credentials.
  5. Complete the Online Application Form**
  6. Fill out the application form accurately. Ensure that all personal, academic, and financial details are correctly entered.
  7. Upload Required Documents (Ensure that the documents are clear and legible to avoid delays or rejections)
  8. Review your application to ensure all details are correct and submit your application
  9. You will receive a confirmation message once your application is successfully submitted.

 

Here is a step by step guide on how to apply for NSFAS in TVET Colleges (Walk-In):

  • Visit your desired TVET College
  • Visit the financial aid office
  • Let them know you want assistance with applying for NSAFAS
  • Ensure that you bring the following documents with you:
  • - A certified copy of your South African ID or birth certificate.
    - Certified copies of your parents’ or guardians’ IDs.
    - Proof of household income (e.g., recent payslips, SASSA grant letter, or affidavit).
    - Academic records or a recent school report.
    - Proof of registration or acceptance at a TVET college.
    - Disability Annexure A form (if applicable).
  • Have scanned documents just in case digital documents are required

  • NSFAS will review your application
  • You will be able to login to your portal to check status
  • Status is regularly updated, ensure you check status at least twice a week
  • If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation message with funding details.
  • If rejected, you will be informed of the reason and may appeal the decision if applicable.
