For Coloured Girls Bursary  - 2025 Online Application

About the For Coloured Girls Bursary:

The For Coloured Girls Bursary was founded with the intention of supporting and assisting girls in grade 8 to 12 by providing learning & development programs and psychological services. Financial aid is provided to young and determined coloured girls who want to further their studies. Girls from the disadvantaged communities are prioritised.  

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing or want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

• Science
• Technology
• Engineering
• Mathematics
• Language

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FOR COLOURED GIRLS BURSARY

To qualify for the For Coloured Girls Bursary you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must be a coloured female
• Must be entering Grade 8 to 12 OR entering 1st or 2nd year of studies at a higher education institution
• Must be from a “coloured”  and disadvantaged community
• Must have a passion for learning and willingness to further your studies
• Preference given to students who have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% or level 6 achievement level
• Preference given to students pursuing studies towards language and STEM fields
• Preference given to students who are interested in scarce skills

FOR COLOURED GIRLS REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of latest results
• A motivational essay explaining your enthusiasm to enrol in the programme, covering the following three points: the benefits you want to get from the programme, how you will use the knowledge and skills you acquire to advance your career, and how the course structure is relevant to or interesting to you.
