MUT 2024 Second Semester Applications 

2024 second semester applications are officially open at MUT for the following courses:

Faculty of Engineering

• Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (Course Code: MN-M-DAN)
• Diploma in Chemical Engineering (Course Code: MN-M-DCE)
• Diploma in Civil Engineering (Course Code: MN-M-DCV)
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Course Code: MN-M-DEE)
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Course Code: MN-M-DME)
• Diploma in Surveying (Course Code: MN-M-DSV)

Ensure that you check minimum admission requirements before you apply at MUT. Do not assume that you qualify based on your APS alone, also check the specific subject requirements. Checking requirements before applying will increase your chances of being admitted at the Mangosuthu University of Technology. 

How to apply at MUT for 2024 second semester

All first year applications are submitted through the Central Applications Office (CAO). This is a simplified way of applying for more than one programme and more than one institution using one application form, and paying a single application fee. Follow the easy steps below to apply at MUT through CAO for second semester:

Step 1: Visit the CAO website: www.cao.ac.za 

Step 2: Click on the "apply" tab

Step 3: Read the information and click on the "continue with application" tab

Step 4:  Enter your ID number or your Cao number. then click on submit 

Step 5: Click on the "continue with application" tab

Step 6: Enter All the information requested. Once you have entered all the information requested, click 'Next'

Step 7: A pop-up will appear with your CAO Number, Password and EasyPay Number.

The same information will also be sent to the email address you provided. This information is important in case you want to access your information at a later date.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU HAVE NOT YET COMPLETED YOUR APPLICATION

Step 8: Click 'Continue with Online Application'

Step 9: Capture your next of kin details 

Step 10: Enter your grade 11 results or your grade 12 results 

Step 11: Choose the courses you want to apply for (you can choose up to 6 choices) 

Step 12: Check the information provided in the Summary of your application

Step 13: Click the 'Process My Application’ button at the end of the page

YOUR APPLICATION HAS NOW BEEN SUBMITTED

A message will be displayed on screen informing you that your submission has been successful

Step 14:  You can now upload your supporting documents and pay your application fee online OR pay at an EasyPay Outlet

Administration fee payable for South African citizens R250-00 & International applicants R300-00

Once your Administration fee has been received, your application will be made available to the institutions to which you have applied

How does CAO work?

CAO allows an applicant to apply online for up to six programme choices at any University, University of Technology or any partnering Private Colleges in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The applicant can pay their administration fee online or they could pay via an EasyPay outlet. Through CAO an applicant can upload documents at a later stage by logging back into their profile using their unique CAO number and password issued to them when they apply.
