Unisa Short Courses in Teaching Requirements and duration 

  1. Advanced Course in the Facilitation of Learning for Tutors in Higher Education

Requirements: 

  • Proficiency in the language of instruction
  • Applicable prior or concurrent experience as an educator/tutor
  • A discipline-specific qualification at NQF Level 6 (or equivalent)

Duration: 6 months

Target Group: Facilitators/tutors in HET (Higher Education & Training)

Purpose of this course:

  • The purpose of this Short Learning Programme is to enable facilitators/tutors to support student learning in HET thereby improving throughput to the benefit of students and institutions.
  • Raise knowledge and skills levels of students for social and economic development and transformation
  • Promote social inclusion and academic success through valuing and harnessing the diversity of learners as well as the diversity of their knowledge, skills and experience.
     

      2. Short Course in Student Support And Academic Development 

Requirements: 

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC)
  • NQF Level 4 Qualification in ECD
  • (Proof must be attached during application)

Duration: 6 months

Purpose of this course:

This course is designed to offer lecturers, facilitators and tutors at both TVET colleges and Universities with an opportunity to acquire the competencies, knowledge and skills required to understand factors contributing to students poor performance and critically reflect on the intervention strategies for supporting and managing students who fail to meet the acceptable academic standards, developing an action plan to resolve this situation.

 

     3. Short Course in Teaching Accounting in Further Education and Training (FET) Phase

Requirements: 

  • NQF level 5 qualification

Duration: 6 months

Target Group: 

The professional teachers involved in teaching Accounting in Further Education Training Phase. The teachers should have a Degree or Diploma in Education.

Purpose of this course:

The purpose of this course is to equip qualified teachers (Accounting teachers) with competencies, skills, knowledge, values and attitudes in the teaching of Accounting subject in schools. The programme will provide students with requisite skills, and competencies on how to deliver the lessons that will empower learners in Accounting to successfully understand the subject content

Unisa short courses in teaching 2024 application 

Unisa short courses 2024 applications are officially open and will close January 2024. Anyone interested in applying can apply online, click here to apply.  You may apply for a maximum of two Short Learning Programmes/short courses, ranked in order of preference.

 

There is no application fee when applying for Unisa short courses. Everyone applying for a new Short Learning Programme must submit the required documents before the closing date because no documents submitted after the closing date for applications will be accepted. The documents should be certified and scanned. Please note that Unisa short courses in teaching are offered to teachers and lecturers, not prospective and undergraduate students.
