SARF Bursary - 2025 Applications

About the SARF Bursary programme:

The main aim of the SARF bursary programme is to support students pursuing studies that contribute to the advancement of road transport infrastructure and management in South Africa. This bursary programme support qualifying students financially, allowing students to concentrate on their studies without financial burdens. By investing in students' education, SARF is aiming to create a skilled workforce that can address the country's road infrastructure needs and promote economic growth in South Africa. 


FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who are pursuing an undergraduate/postgraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Road Safety Engineering
  • Road Transport Economics
  • Road Transport Management
  • Road Engineering (Civil Engineering / Traffic Engineering/ Bridge Engineering/ Pavement Engineering/ Transportation Planning/ Construction Management/ Construction Materials/ Storm Water/ Environment/ Construction Materials)

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SARF BURSARY PROGRAMME. 

To qualify for the SARF bursary programme, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African residents and citizen, however, applicants from SADC countries are also eligible.
  • You must be studying towards a qualification in road transports field (qualifications listed above)
  • You must be registered at a recognized South African tertiary institution
  • You must be endorsed by academic authority at your university/ university of technology.
  • If you are studying a National Diploma you must have passed your first semester and if you are studying a Degree you must have passed your first year of study. 
  • Preference will be given to applications for postgraduate levels (MTech, MSc, etc.), full-time students and employees of SARF member companies.
  • You must be committed to working in the South African road transport industry after graduation.

 

SARF BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Certified copy of applicant's ID
  • Certified copy of applicants full academic record of all years studied.
  • Certified copy of Grade 11 year end results (if currently in matric)
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate.

The closing date for the SARF bursary applications for the 2025 academic year is the 31st of August 2024. Submit your application in time and remember that no emailed and faxed applications will be accepted. Late and incomplete applications will also be disqualified, therefore ensure that you submit your application in time.
