About the SARB Bursary programme. 

The SARB Bursary programme aims to address the shortage of critical skills in South Africa. The programme aims to support and develops disadvantaged students, this ensures a pipeline of skilled professionals in areas like economics, finance, and law, all of which are important for the bank's operations and the country's financial well-being. These bursary recipients have the potential to become future leaders who can contribute to a stable and prosperous South African economy.

FIELD OF STUDY

The bursary programme is open to students who want to pursue an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

• Economics
• Economics and Econometrics
• Economics and Mathematical Statistics
• Economic Science. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SARB BURSARY PROGRAMME. 

To qualify for the SARB bursary programme, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be a South African citizen.
• You must be in matric or completed matric.
• You must have achieved an average of 70% with a pass of 70% and above for Mathematics and English.
• You must be younger than 30 years of age 
• You must demonstrate financial need. 
• You must be accepted or provisionally accepted to study a qualification in one of the above listed fields.

SARB BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of applicant's ID
• Certified copy of applicants Matric certificate or latest June matric results.
• Proof of provisional/confirmed acceptance at a recognised tertiary institution.
• Motivational essay (250 words)

The closing date for the SARB bursary applications is the 30th of September 2024. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered, potential bursars will be invited to interviews and successful applicants will be required to sign bursary agreements.
